Supporting Blair is a Family Affair
We made the decision to send two of our three children to Blair Middle and High School for a number of reasons, but it is the school’s community of staff and families which have made the biggest impact on us. We have grown to appreciate and value the multi-cultural atmosphere in this smaller school setting. The many personal relationships with other families at Blair have been deep-rooted and timely. Some of these friends are Christians, but many are not. Blair’s cultural and family-oriented community has been both refreshing and encouraging in the midst of a racially charged world.
Matthew, our middle son, having cerebral palsy and developmental disabilities, participated in Blair High School’s Special Education Special Day Class program and did very well. The warm and caring nature of those watching over Matthew helped us trust that he was in a nurturing environment. Our daughter, Johanna, entered Blair in the 6th grade and is currently a senior working through the academically-challenging International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. We have been encouraged by Johanna’s relationships with specific Blair staff who have taken the time to pour themselves into her with timely advice and counsel throughout her 6+ years at the school.
As supporters of Blair for several years now, we feel that the Lord has blessed our children at this local school. Galatians 6:10 says: “As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.”
We feel that supporting Blair sends a message of encouragement and solidarity. Thank God for communities like Blair. We hope that we as a church congregation can continue to “do good” towards our neighbors in this area of Pasadena.
