Lake Avenue Church desires for everyone to be involved in outreach and serving others. Matthew 20:26 & 28 (Living Bible): “Anyone wanting to be a leader among you must be your servant. And if you want to be right at the top, you must serve like a slave. Your attitude must be like My own. For I did not come to be served, but to serve.”
Outreach is the intersection where the needs of the world, whether spiritual, emotional or physical, whether personal or societal, encounter Jesus through the actions of His Church and each of His followers.
We believe in creating and maintaining sustainable partnerships in our city. We are a church who values visible and consistent presence in our neighborhood, advocating for issues and people who are marginalized or overlooked. We strive to cast vision, create learning opportunities, and mobilize our local church to stand with our neighbors in promoting gospel-centered justice and community transformation.
For over 120 years, Lake had been formally and informally sending its own international staff around the world, crossing barriers to make disciples. The people of Lake have gone to every inhabited continent introducing whole culture groups to Jesus for the first time. These international staff have translated the Bible, they have practiced medicine, fought for justice, brought educational opportunity, developed next generation leaders for faith and industry and much more.
