Rufus’s heart is to see young people come to know Jesus and he believes that youth are the catalyst to seeing a change in our local communities through the gospel. His heart is for young people to be fully seen and become entirely dependent on their relationship with Jesus by experiencing the love of Jesus. It’s easy to see the passion that Rufus has for Christ if you spend any amount of time with him, not to mention his undying love for everything basketball.
Rufus is originally from Texas but moved to California when he began his studies at Fuller Theological Seminary. He graduated in 2019 with a MDiv and started serving as the youth director at a church in Eagle Rock.
Rufus became a Christian when he was 11 years old. He felt God was calling him to vocational ministry and he has been active in ministry ever since. Whether volunteering at his church when he was young, or moving to Lebanon for refugee work after his undergrad, Rufus has found true joy in his service to others and Jesus above all.
Rufus met his beautiful wife, Ashli, after moving to Los Angeles. Together they have a daughter named Selah. They have been the greatest gift in his life.
