Volunteering at Lake

We asked the various volunteers in student and children’s ministry to share in brief their story, here are some of the highlights they shared:

“ I jumped in not knowing how to help. I’m a teacher and figured I would just do the teacher thing, but it’s more than that. The kids need someone there who can be a role model to them. I’ve realized God uses me not in the way I think He needs me, but in the way He knows I need to be used. “ - Kathy Vargas

“ It brings you to a place saying, ‘ It’s not about me.’ Making sure that the ways you’ve grown in your relationship with God is getting passed to the next generation.” - Tracey Doan

“ It’s like a little family you end up having at the end of the year  because you have a wonderful relationship not only with the children but also with the teachers you’re working with.” - Jessica Repko

“ It’s a joy to rediscover God on a simpler level and on the same level as the kids. “ - Adrea Scheidler

“ I have four kids; very busy; kids are home-schooled; we have a home-based business. If you think you can’t volunteer, I’ll say I think you can. You see kids that never had the opportunity to be in a church and learn about God, but how a neighbor or family member happened to bring them. All of a sudden they’re pulling Mommy and Daddy to come to church - to see that is beautiful. “ - Ernie Vargas

“ The more you try and grow in the faith, sometimes the more difficult you make it out to be. When you work with kids you’re reminded that when Jesus tells us to believe like little children it’s really that simple. “ - Janet Wilson
