Do you have a story that you love so much that you can hear it time and again? Here are a couple of my favorite Kingdom stories where I am reminded that the Lord ministers to adults through children and to children through adults!
Pastor Roger and I were greeting families in the plaza on Sunday morning. One family was all smiles as their son ran up to us to get our attention. ”Pastor Gwen I have something to tell you!” Before I could ask, he blurted out, “I’m a Christian now!” We celebrated with him and thanked him for sharing! Mama was beaming from ear to ear. She said, “I thought this was coming, ever since VBS!” Pastor Roger laughed and said, “Now if that doesn’t make your day, I don’t know what will!” Agreed!
Another story is one of a local missionary who developed relationships with the children in her neighborhood and brought them here to Lake Avenue Church. Originally, she had seen the children playing as she was on her way to church. She reached out to their mother and the relationships grew! She then invited the children to church, and they loved coming! She regularly had lawn parties and shared Jesus with the children who came. She was very consistent and at last count she had stayed in touch with a dozen children and their families! She called it a “seed-planting ministry!” She used her time and availability to build connections in her community!
We are taught through community and connection through each different child and family. I so appreciate these stories that show our God’s kingdom work in each experience! Psalm 78:4b, reminds us: “We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done.”
