Dear LAC Family,
In our continuing efforts to share encouragement, needs and stories of faith, we want to let you know about some of those who serve in places that are less obvious and more behind
the scenes. This month, we wanted to highlight one such individual and what serving in our Children’s Ministries has meant to her and the children and families her life touches. Diana Sanders was gracious enough to allow us to share a little bit about her experience.
"I’ve always loved children, but after teaching a couple of decades in a difficult setting, I was burned out and discouraged. I didn’t have the confidence to volunteer with the children more than once a year. Then they needed volunteers for Mothers of Preschoolers, where young moms could gather for biblical teaching and supportive fellowship. I loved being with those little ones, but I couldn’t volunteer long-term.
Now I’m retired, and Amy and I decided I would begin serving with the babies. I am so happy to be with those precious new people. I laugh the entire time with them. And I get to be with a team of gentle professionals and whole-hearted volunteers. As much as I love the babies—singing to them, doing crafts and playtime, and talking about Jesus—I especially want to support young families in our church. There is so much pressure on them, and I can support them by giving them a safe place for their babies as they go worship the Lord together. As I hold the babies, I pray for them and their families. God has blessed me here: "I was broken and burned out, but now there's less of selfish pride in me, and more room for Jesus' love and joy. I serve in other ministries at Lake, and love them, but with the babies, I serve with abandon—with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength. Join us!"
