If you were asked what your favorite worship song is, would you think of a memory, or an experience along with it? For Emma, her answer would be absolutely. Going to camp last summer for the second time in Middle School, she stepped off a boat and onto Catalina Island, where she spent the next five days making new friends, exploring, playing, swimming, and hearing about the powerful love of God. It was there, while worshipping alongside 200 students on a secluded beach that Emma sang the words of “Reckless Love” that shifted something inside her. Treasuring that moment in her heart, she returned home from camp a few days later knowing her relationship with Jesus had just gone to a deeper place – and she wanted to do something about it. A couple months later, Emma is climbing down steps that lead into water, speaks into a microphone her testimony of how she experienced Jesus at camp, and why she wants to get baptized that day. In just five days, Emma encountered Jesus in a different way than she does at home. And for a 12-year-old (or anyone, really) that’s pretty life changing.
