We are connected in God, His truth, worship and each other. Women connect events happen twice a year. In the Fall we have a half-day retreat, and in the Spring, we have a Speaker Luncheon event. On November 4, we will be having our half-day retreat where we will be connecting around tables of eight women and the seating is open so you may sit wherever you wish. We invite women of all ages and their guests to attend.
This year our retreat will focus on “Pursuing Peace.” When our Team was given the task of taking time to pray on their own to ask God what He had planned for our topic and then to listen to Him, all 6 of us came back to the next meeting sharing one by one and each had the topic of Peace which God had put on their hearts in different ways! I know God has a personal word for all who will attend in the area of Peace in your lives!
John 14:27, “My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
Psalm 29:11, “the Lord will give strength to His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace.”
Pastor Beth will be our Pastoral MC. We will learn together as we listen to Elaine Carovilla (new on our Elder board and an exceptionally gifted woman); myself, as we talk about how to pursue peace on a daily basis, and a wonderful panel of women from Lake sharing times when they needed peace and how God was available to them.
As a grand finale after lunch, we are privileged to have our own Carol Kenyon (the Lead Chaplain of a Whittier hospital) share amazing experiences with God as He enters into her work each day surrounding people with His presence in their hardest moments.
We will also worship together and have prayer available as well as enjoy lunch and community. Please make this a priority to allow your hearts and minds to be encouraged with peace.
Arlene from last year’s retreat says, “I brought two millennial friends from small churches. During table discussion, we each shared (literally with tears of joy) how Jesus had spoken to each of us during the “Listening Prayer” time.
Teri shares, “The Lake Ave. Women’s Retreat was a Spirit filled event for me. Hearing the speakers share their faith stories unlocked words the Lord was giving me . . . I highly recommend you come and be open and see where Jesus leads.”
Grace said, “It was refreshing to hear other people’s perspectives on different issues. “
