Did you know that LAC has a Flower Ministry?
Rani, one of the LAC parking lot security guards on Sunday mornings shared with us about her son. “My son Christopher loves receiving flowers!” It means a lot to Rani, too, because he is not always able to attend church. This ministry touches the lives of many – those receiving them, as well as their family members and caregivers.
For years now, we have had a year-round flower ministry serving all ages of our LAC family. Not only do the flowers enhance the beauty of the Worship Center on Sundays, they also serve a specific purpose on Monday mornings. Our Flower Ministry Team meets to make smaller arrangements from the large ones given on Sundays and then delivers them to those in our church family who are ill, in the hospital, recovering at home, or in a convalescent facility.
The Liu family showed their gratitude when their grandson, Dylan, received flowers during his hospitalization. “For a seven year old, it was special for him to see your prayers through those lovely flowers from church!” said the Lius.
The Shepherd’s Class also love receiving the flowers.
When I visit someone in the hospital, and in the elevator people admire them, then I always share they are from Lake Avenue Church. It is said that music is a universal language. Flowers are a close second. Both produce beauty of form and harmony of emotion.
Rebecca – 45 years old, started attending Lake four months ago. She has stage IV cancer. She is amazed and very grateful for the love shown through the visits and flowers from LAC.
Bill and Anne Agnew who are unable to attend church said, “Thanks so much for the gifts of flowers to our family over the years. The flowers always brought cheer and encouragement and assured us that our church cared.”
If you know of someone from Lake in need of a visit, please let us know.
Come by our table in the Worship Center Lobby this weekend to sign-up for the Flower Calendar, at $85 an arrangement given for any occasion – remembrance, anniversary, birthday etc. We are also looking for people to help serve in the Flower Ministry on Monday mornings. For more details on how to serve please see the inside section of LakeAveNews. For questions contact me at or call 626.794.0495. Even just helping with delivery would be appreciated.
