Blair to Us

Our family moved to California from Ontario, Canada in 2012 and Blair soon became the choice for our daughters Hannah and Emma. Our daughters are now in their final years at Blair and we have seen them challenged and pushed in all areas, academic or extra-curricular through the programs as well as the teachers, and we are thankful for how much they have grown over these past five years. They themselves had a lot to say when they were asked about their experience:

Hannah (Grade 12): Blair is a great school that provides so many opportunities. Blair offers International Baccalaureate (IB) courses towards a diploma program. They have a great music program and several sports teams. I myself, am involved in the Jazz band, which has helped me grow my skill on the alto saxophone and am also on the tennis team. I am also a part of the Christian Club and some others at Blair. Not to mention, I have been a part of the Associated Student Body for a number of years as President and now as Vice President in my final year. I can truthfully say that without everything I and my friends have experienced at Blair, high school would never be the same.

Emma (Grade 11): Blair is one of the smaller schools in our area, which I’ve found can be challenging when it comes to raising funds for our many programs, but is also amazing because we have been able to form a close and tight-knit community.

I am involved in clubs and sports (tennis) myself, and have a voice at school as President of my ASB. In my sixth year at Blair, it’s incredible how comfortable all of us have gotten with each other, even the teachers, who constantly make every effort to better our experience at school.

We are so grateful to be sponsored by this church, as it really has made a significant difference in supplying our educators with everything they need to create an exciting learning environment and even instilling school spirit within our students. Last year, our basketball team went further than it had in years, and Blair was even featured on the list of most challenging schools in the US published by Washington Post! We are excited to see the accomplishments that we as students will achieve this year thanks to Lake Avenue Church that has enabled us to fulfill our capabilities. Thank you!
