Questions/Conversation Starters
Let your children show you what they have been learning.
What are the fruit of the Spirit?
Which fruit of the Spirit do you think is the most difficult to live out and why?
Who helps us to live the fruit of the Spirit in our lives?
What are ways we can help each other live the fruit of the Spirit?
Read Galatians 5:25 and 26 as a family
“If we live by the spirit, let’s follow the Spirit. Let’s not become arrogant, make each other angry or be jealous of each other.”
Devotional
In children’s ministry we have the gift of time. After the lesson we play together, share glue for a craft, desire to have the same toy, etc. This is a gift because after we hear lessons on love, peace, patience, gentleness, self-control etc. we have opportunities to live out these lessons with one another. We ask others and ourselves are we being self-controlled with our hands and words? Are we showing patience and gentleness in the hard times when we don’t want to?
This series has been real for the children! They have patiently waited for results. They have resolved conflict. Most importantly we have all learned it is not easy to live the fruit of the Spirit, and living this fruit is not about making ourselves better. No, this series has been about living in community. A community that shows the world what Jesus is capable of! A community that says it is about God and the other, not self!
The song “We Believe” by LIFE worship beautifully communicates the importance of living the fruit of the spirit in community. It says, “In this broken generation when all is dark You help us see there is only one salvation. We believe! We believe! So, let our faith be more than anthems! Let the lost be found! Let love invade! Let the Church live loud!”
