  1. 1 Peter 1:3-12 is one long sentence in Peter’s original letter (even though I’m breaking it up in our study). Read it all the way through and ask, “What is the main point the Bible is making?
  2. *Do you see any relevance in this sentence for people undergoing tough times?

  3. In 1 Peter 1:3-4, Peter declares that God has “given us new birth into a living hope.” So, we are “born again” into something we formerly did not know. What are the differences between the hope we find in Christ and the hope we had before we knew Jesus?
  4. In 1 Peter 1:5 and again in 1 Peter 1:9, Peter refers to our salvation (or rescue) is something that will not be complete until sometime in the future. What do you think he means?
  5. Until God completes that work of salvation, what should we expect in this world from 1 Peter 1:6-7?
  6. According to 1 Peter 1:7, there can be value in going through tough times. What benefit does Peter mention? Have you found this to be true in your own life?
  7. If you were teaching this passage to your children or to friends, what would be the main lesson you would hope they would learn?
