- This week’s text is mostly a description of specific ways we might “live good lives among the nations” (See 1 Peter 2:12). If people simply tried to do this in their own strength, what would happen?
- What is the experience described in 1 Peter 2:9-10 that makes it so we no longer have to live “good lives” on our own?
- Peter first applies the command of 1 Peter 2:12 to the way Jesus-followers respond to those who have political authority over them. What does he teach in 1 Peter 2:13-17?
- The second area of application is that of the employment relationship in 1 Peter 2:18-21. The term “slaves” is probably better translated as housekeepers or domestic servants. What does he say to them?
- Jesus’ life provides the example for how we are to live good lives as it relates to authority. What do we learn from Jesus in 1 Peter 2:21-25.
- 1 Peter 2:12, 1 Peter 2:16 and 1 Peter 2:21 are probably the key verses in this passage. Read them again and identify one major lesson you would like to apply to your own life.
