This weekend Pastor Albert Tate will be speaking on how important music can be for God's kingdom work now as well as in the True Story of Christmas. He and the team to Thailand have just returned. Below is an excerpt that detailed their trip:
The Thailand team will have the privilege to travel to Thailand and share the gospel in a new way. Christmas is celebrated over there, unfortunately the message of the birth of Jesus has somehow become overshadowed by Santa and his reindeer. Therefore, this Christmas a team of musicians and singers will travel to Thailand to share the message of Jesus through song. We will be singing in shopping malls and different venues all throughout the area spreading the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. We will spend a significant amount of time in a city that is considered to be the sex trade capital of the world: Pattaya. We will do ministry in many of the clubs where men pick up young girls. Can you imagine a small group of singers standing by the bar singing "Oh Holy night, the night that Christ was born" and "Come Let Us Adore Him"?
A missionary couple that Lake Avenue Church supports heads up a very unique and much needed ministry that reaches out to workers in the "Red Light" district in Pattaya. We will have the opportunity to shine the light of Christ in some of the darkest, most spiritually void places in the resort town of Pattaya. This town is notorious for its nightlife and "sex tourism" industry, and we hope that the gospel message would not only bring hope to the people who are trapped in a lifestyle of prostitution (often against their will), but that the hearts of the tourists who exploit these people will also be convicted and turned to Christ. To this end, we have accepted the very unique opportunity to share our message in venues that would otherwise be closed to The Gospel, such as night clubs and bars. Other groups under the direction our Lake Avenue Missionaries have done this in years past with great success, and as a result, many lives have been transformed.
To His glory,
Albert Tate
