  1. Take time to describe Simeon in your own words. How might the promise he had once heard (reported in 2:26) have affected his life before the coming of Jesus?
     
     
     
     
     
  2. V. 26 lets us know that what took place in Simeon's life in the temple with Jesus happened because the Spirit guided him. Have you ever experienced something that you would describe as being "moved by the Spirit"?
     
     
     
     
     
     
  3. What do we learn about walking with God in this world from Simeon's song in 2:29–32?
     
     
     
     
     
     
  4. The child will bring "salvation," "light to the world," and "glory to God's people" (2:30–32). But, he will also bring a "falling" of some people and rejections by many (2:34) as well as a sword to the heart of his mother (and, potentially, to all who love him) in v. 35.
