1. Read through the angelic visitation in Luke 1:11–19, 26–38, and 2:8–12. What do they have in common?
   

*What is different about them?

*How would you respond if you experienced this kind of angelic visitation?

2. What is the message the angel gives the shepherds in Luke 2:10–12? What does it teach us about God and his purposes?
   
3. Why do you think God sent a whole host of angels to the shepherds instead of just one as he usually does?
   

*What is the significance of the message in Luke 2:14?

4. In Luke 2:17, the shepherds took up the task of communicating God's message. Would you rather have an angel-messenger or a shepherd-messenger? Why?
   
5. God now usually sends human messengers to carry his truth to the world. See 2 Corinthians 5:18–20. What do we learn from this?
   
6. What is the message the angel gives the shepherds in 2:10–12? What does it teach us about God and his purposes?
