- Read John 3:16–19, 36.
*What is the danger that Jesus says all people are in? (Notice the word "perish" in v. 16.)
*What are the two destinies Jesus describes?
*What is it that determines our eternal destiny?
- Read vv. 17 and 19 again. Some have said that this offers some hope to some people who may not have heard the name of Jesus, i.e., that they must respond in faith to the amount of light that God has sent to them. What do you think?
- Read Romans 2:1–4. Who makes the judgment about people's standing with God? Does John 21:20–21 shed any light on this?
- Read Romans 3: 18, 21–24 and 2 Corinthians 5:9–11, 17–21. How should we live in the light of the knowledge we have about God's salvation in Jesus?
- What do you hope to do in the light of this study?
