When All We Have Is A Promise
Exodus 1-2
- Exodus is a sequel to the Book of Genesis. Therefore, begin your study of Exodus by looking at Genesis 12:1–3; 15:1–7; and 50:24–26. What promises had God made to Abraham's descendants?
- Read Exodus 1:11–22. What is threatening the fulfillment of God's promises to Israel? If you had been an Israelite at the time, how hard would it have been for you to trust God?
- One of the most challenging issues God's people face in this world is why God allows his followers to go through such difficult times. Knowing that we cannot understand God's ways fully, why do you think that God might have allowed Israel to experience the kind of suffering we read about in Exodus 1?
- Read 2:23–25. What lessons do we learn about walking with God from those verses?
- Take time to remember and list some of the promises of God found throughout Scripture. How can those promises sustain you in times of trouble?
- What do you hope to apply to your life from this study?
