The Audacity of God's Love
- Philippians 1:21 and 2:3–5 are keys to understanding the Philippians message. State in your own words what those verses say.
- In Phil. 2:19–30, Paul gave two good examples of men living for Christ. In 3:1–3, he warned about people who are very different. What differences do you see in the good examples and the bad examples?
- When you read 3:4–9, think of an application you might write, asking to be admitted to a school. What might some people say to God as they ask to be admitted to his family (see what Paul once would have said in vv. 4–6)?
- What is our sole basis for admission to God's family, according to 3:7–9?
- Paul still stands in wonder—even after years of being an apostle—that Christ would die for him and that Christ promises that he will be raised to a new life. What does he say about Jesus and about his longing as a follower of Jesus in 3:7–11?
- What is the main lesson you would like to apply to your life from this passage?
