Honoring Father

This text tells us more about the “mind” (attitude, mindset) of Jesus than any other passage of the Bible. But, the main goal of our text is not so much to teach us truths about Jesus as it is to teach us how to live with the mindset of Jesus.

1. What do these verses teach us about

   *Who Jesus is?

   *What Jesus did?

   *Why Jesus did what he did?

   *What is the end result of Jesus’ life of service?

2. In 2:3, we are taught to do nothing out of 1) selfish ambition and 2) vain conceit. How do we see obedience to this teaching in the life of Jesus, according to 2:6–9?
   
3. In 2:4, we are to think of the interests of others in our decision making. How do you see this being lived out in the life of Jesus?
   
4. According to the Bible, what we set our minds on will direct our lives. How do you pray that 2:5 and its call to have the mind of Christ Jesus will change you?
