The Secret

1. One of the reasons why Paul wrote Philippians was to say thank you for a gift the people in Philippi sent. In 4:10–11, 14–19, how does Paul respond to their gift? What do we learn from his response?
   
   
2. The people in Philippi (in Macedonia) were quite poor—and still they were generous. Read what Paul said to the wealthy church in Corinth about their giving in 2 Cor. 8:1–5. What do we learn from his words?
   
3. What is the secret Paul learned that he gave testimony to in 4:11b–13?
   
4. 4:13 is often taken out of context as a proof text for our ability to do or achieve anything if we believe effectively enough. What is the Bible really saying?
   
5. Read the ending to the letter in 4:21–23. What do you think happened that led to the salvation of people in Caesar's own household?
