John 6:25-65
Reflection Questions on “Knowing Him” better:
Jesus was very clear about His message. Since it was true, though his goal was not to offend, He did not worry about who He offended. When it was time for the truth he was strong and did not have any apprehension about dividing the crowd. Those who were not His followers became angry (vs.52) and some of His followers also returned to their old associations (vs.66). He did not make things easy when it came to the core issues. Those who believed His teaching, even the hard parts, were then united.
- Write out the core elements of your relationship with God and the cornerstones of your faith that are non-negotiable. Examine yourself to see if there are areas where you will compromise or remain quiet out of fear of offending others more than your fear of offending God. If there are, ask God to remove your fear and then make a plan to pursue a deeper knowledge of Him and the basis of your security in Him.
Reflection Questions on “Making Him known” better:
- Am I striving to produce things of eternal value (vs.27)? Where am I serving? Am I equipped to discuss the core elements of my faith? If yes, look for an opportunity to point someone toward Christ this week, if not take meaningful steps to equip yourself (i.e. grab a good book, sign up for the Winter 2011 Alpha Course, etc.).
