- Read Genesis 1:31–2:3. Why do you think God rested? What value or benefit have you experienced when you have taken time to stop the work you are doing to rest?
- Read Exodus 20:8. What do you see being mandated in this first part of the fourth commandment? Take some time to identify what "all your work" is at this time in your life. Include your paid and unpaid work—your employment and your personal responsibilities.
- Read the second part of the fourth commandment in Exodus 20:10. Now that you have identified "all your work," how do you think you might be conscientious about obeying this command?
- In Colossians 4:2–6, the Apostle Paul provided some teaching about our stewardship of time and related it specifically to being involved in God's mission. Take time to reflect on and discuss his directives. What does he say? What practical steps will you take to follow his teaching?
- What is the main lesson you hope to apply to your life from these passages of God's Word?
