Read Ephesians 3:14-19

  1.  The church in Ephesians included two distinct cultural groups, one Jewish and one Gentile.  Each group had come to faith in Jesus.  However, they did not want to worship together or serve one another in unity.  Why do you think Paul began his prayer the way he did in vv.14-15?  Does this speak to divisions such as age or ethnicity that often exist in churches today?
  2. The first part of Paul’s prayer is in 16-17a:
    • -What do you think it means to be “strengthened in your inner being?”
    •   -Have you ever felt the need for that?  Does anyone in your groups need that
  3. The second part of the prayer is in vv.17b-19:
    • -What are your first thoughts as you read these verses?
    • -What does it mean to be “rooted and established in love?”  (See also Eph. 1:4-8.)
    • -Why do you think we need God’s power to grasp how much he loves us?
    • -It seems that we grasp how much God loves us “together with all God’s people.”  What role should the church play in helping us experience the love of God.
    • -Can you imagine being “filled to the measure of all the fullness of God?” Put what that might mean into your own words.
