  1. Read Ephesians 5:15-20.  One part of wise living rather than unwise is to sing together with God’s people.  Do you think that is true?  Why?  What is the best experience you have had with God as a result of signing together with other believers?
  2. When we sing, the Bible says we are to sing psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit (5:19).  The “psalms” would have referred to the songs that the Jewish believers had sung all their lives.  “Hymns” probably refers to songs churches were beginning to sing about Jesus, some of which made their ways into the New Testament (see Colossians 1:15-20; Phil 2:6-11).  Songs from the Spirit were probably those the Spirit was inspiring within their own church fellowship.  It probably was hard for the different Jewish and Gentile believers to have enjoyed singing those different kinds of songs?  Why does the Bible command them to sing all kinds together?  How does this apply to us when we worship in our church?
  3. Ephesians 5:20 tells us that singing together flows out of thankful hearts.  What do we learn from that verse about what will lead a church family to sing with hearts that are full?  What might keep us from doing so?
  4. Read Hebrews 10:19-25.  Why should we gather together in worship?  What will happen in our lives when we do?  What will likely be the result if we do not?
