Questions for Reflection

2 Corinthians 8:10 - 9:5

  1. How does Paul describe the Corinthians in their giving in the past (2 Cor. 8:10-11 and 9:1-4)? Have you experienced a time when you felt compelled by love to give? What were the circumstances that gave you that desire?
  2. What makes a gift acceptable (2 Cor. 8:12)? Are you tempted to compare yourself with other people that have more? Attempt to make a reasonable assessment of what you do have to share.
  3. What appears to be the opposite of equality (vs.13)? How will we know there is equality (vs. 15)? What is a God-honoring definition of equality?
  4. What must we do in order to bring about equality (vs. 14-15)? Specifically, what might God be calling you to do in order to participate in God’s Kingdom work towards equality?
  5. What two types of gifts does Paul describe (2 Cor. 9:5)? What do you need to do now, so that you can give a generous gift later?
