Kingdom Community
Kingdom Community
Questions for Reflection
Read Romans 12:1-8
-
What is the Kingdom of God? What do we mean when we pray “Your Kingdom come…” in the Lord’s Prayer? What does it mean to be part of a “Kingdom Community”?
-
Take a moment to read Revelation 7:9-17 and describe what John saw in his vision. What stands out to you from this passage? What do you long for in this scene?
-
John’s vision of the future sometimes seems impossible in our present-day context, especially in regards to verse 9: “After this, I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language…” Most churches are a far cry from this picture of ethnic and cultural diversity. Why is it so difficult for us to have healthy conversations around issues of culture, race, unity, and inclusion in the Church?
-
LAC’s Core Value this week is Kingdom Community— “Reflecting God’s family in the church, we are unified across cultural, generational, socio-economic and racial/ethnic differences.” What barriers, lies, or fears hinder us from living out this core value? What keeps us from having real relationships with people who are different from us (generationally, ethnically, socio-economically)?
-
What difference would it make if our communities of faith reflected the diversity of John’s vision? In our homes, in our families, in our schools, in our political world, in our workplaces, in our economy, etc… What difference would it make if LAC could truly live out this Core Value?
