Questions for Reflection
Read Isaiah 43:16-19
- Spend some time remembering the good things God has done, both for you personally and for us corporately here at Lake Avenue Church. What has God done in the past to show us He is faithful?
- God invites his people in verse 18 to “forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.” Why does God tell us to “forget the former things”? How might dwelling on the past get in the way of our discipleship in the present? How do we “forget the former things” while also remembering what God has done?
- God says in Is 43:19, “I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” Pastor Kerwin invited us to be ready for the creative work of God, letting go of our old models. We don’t want to miss the new things God is doing in the world around us. In light of that, what expectations do you need to set aside, so you can be ready for the new things to come? What models or ideas or traditions do you need to hold lightly, so you can be ready for the new things God is doing?
- This weekend we celebrated the 125th anniversary of Lake Avenue Church. Take some extra time to pray for our church — God’s Church — that we would follow His lead in the years to come.
