Study Questions
Genesis 2:22 – 3:21; John 14:1-6
- What was Eve’s experience in her first home, the garden (Gen 2:22-25)? What was the nature of Eve’s first sin (Gen 3:2-6)? How is Eve’s sin similar to some of your own?
- What was lost to Eve as a consequence of that sin (Gen 3:7, 10, 16, 22)? Recall also what the disciples had given up in order to follow Jesus. What losses or struggles are you experiencing now?
- Eve lost her first home. Did Eve have reason to hope that God still cared for her even in her sin (Gen 3:21)? The disciples gave up their home and were about to lose their leader. What hope did Jesus give for his troubled followers experiencing great loss (John 14:1-3)?
- Who is the one that has prepared a home for you and will become the way there (John 14:2-6)? What feelings rise up for you knowing your future is dependent on Jesus?
- This Christmas season consider whom you might extend your home or your hospitality to in order to offer hope of a better future and a hope in Jesus.
