LAC Families-
I want to start by saying THANK Y’ALL!!
Our entire Family Ministries had such a pleasure being able to serve you in person this summer whether it was Ms. Amy comforting your little ones on a Sunday morning or watching Pastor Chuck grooving at Family Skate Night. So, thank you for allowing us those precious opportunities to celebrate big moments together.
Now I’m going to blow your mind. Ready? Alright in 3… 2… 1…
We asked you to pray for our student’s going to camp OVER A MONTH AGO.
HOW?!
Selfishly camp is one of my all-time favorite times of the Youth Ministry calendar. I get to literally spend 6 days with the best humans playing crazy games, begging them not to drink caffeine after 8pm and watching them grow in their faith. To me, that is the definition of the perfect job. God truly moved this year, especially for our 4th-12th graders. The staff got to watch the spiritual lightbulbs go off in real-time as well as their love for this community grow leaps in bounds.
If you asked any of my childhood friends or even my parents, they’ll tell you that even as a student I could not wait for summer camp. I talked about it so much that my dad would even get jealous just hearing about it. He said he remembers hearing how my leaders gave me their full attention for a week, how God met me where I was, and how much joy I felt coming home ready to take on whatever the school year brought my way. The reason I’m telling you about my dad’s “jealousy” is because he was not a believer growing up so camp wasn’t a thing. Here is something fun, this summer my 59-year-old dad got to go to camp for the first time. To say that he was excited is an understatement. I had the blessing of watching my dad spend time with our students and encourage them in their growth while simultaneously having peaceful moments with his Creator.
Camp can be difficult, but when I say it’s my favorite week of the year hopefully now you can see a little better as to why.
Family Ministries staff is sad to see summer go but SO excited for what comes after summer…FALL! As our kids are heading back to school, we are prepping so many opportunities for them to continue engaging in their faith and their community. You can find out more on what your students’ ministries are up to at the links in the sidebar. Keep the Family Ministries team and students in your prayers as we kick off our summer calendars packed with SO. MUCH. FUN!
