LAC Families-
FOR DADS (if you want to read about our preschool, skip down to the preschool section)
I love being a dad! It is one of the favorite parts of my identity. If you had asked me about being a dad before our daughter was born, I would have given you a look of anticipation and a generally hopeful answer. What was really going on inside of me was a deep desire to be a dad. This Father’s Day I am looking back over the past 18 years of being a dad. I can see some beautiful moments of care and encouragement. I can see moments where my own issues have caused significant pain. I can hear words of joy and fun and play as well as anticipation and adventure. I remember all the prayers and hopes, my daughter does too. I want more of that. We have moment where I check in with her and ask, “Is there something that I can do better as your dad?” Sometimes there is nothing, sometimes there is something. We keep the conversation open, and I try to keep my ego out of it. It has been one of the best tools for me to connect with my girl.
From one dad to all of you fathers and father figures, I hope you have an opportunity to sit down and remember the relationship you have with you kids, and continue to set your intention for what is next. Your impact is significant in the way that your kids will engage themselves, this world, and their faith in Jesus. As you are celebrated this weekend, remember that you have been entrusted with a grand responsibility. You are going to do great and you are going to mess up. Give yourself grace, ask for help, lean on you partner, and check-in often with your kid. You can do this!! I believe in you.
LAC PRESCHOOL
We are so excited to announce that we will be re-opening our preschool this Fall. We have been hard at work trying to re-vision and begin a new era of ministry to young families in our community. We have recently hired a new director and plan to open registration in July. School will be open in September of 2021 for ages 2-4.
The reopening of the Preschool provides the opportunity to build on the deep foundation and history of loving God and others, all while relaunching with added passion and focus.
The Preschool (Imago Dei Preschool) will rebuild with three Keystones at its foundation: Child Centered, Family Focused, and Mission Minded.
