LAC Families-
Therefore! That word is one of my favorites in scripture. Therefore is a transitional word that requires you to pay attention to what is coming next. But it does not discount what has happened before. As a matter of fact, it brings everything that has happened before into the present and changes it. Philippians 2:12 is a great example.
“12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.
What comes before this passage is Paul’s expression of Jesus’ mindset and God’s response in exalting Jesus and giving him “the name that is above every name…” Paul’s encouragement has so much more weight when we understand what come before the ‘therefore’.
We have been in a moment where our lives have been transitional and that does not stop. Our kids are going through transitions right before our very eyes. There is a hypothesis floating around that kids have grown more in the last year because they have been home and have gotten more sleep. I don’t know what home they are in but more sleep isn’t necessarily happening in my house. Either way our kids are about to go through another transition as they leave one grade and enter another. The Family Ministry staff and I have been thinking about the best way to make sure that your kids have the smoothest and easiest transition into their new grade, into activities, and into the community at Lake. We have set up a really great list of activities and opportunities for students to get to know the leaders here at Lake that will continue to walk with them through this time. We also want you to remember that you have a big role in that as well. Your encouragement and confidence will play a part in kids making the move from one grade to the next, especially now. They have shown incredible resilience, and drive, and hope, and honesty this past year. Therefore, lets lead them into this coming year with grace, encouragement, intention, and laughter.
Peace on the journey
