Embracing the Promise: Holy Week and New Beginnings
Dear ,
It was during the Easter season two years ago that I stepped into the role of your senior pastor, answering the call with a heart full of expectation for the resurrection that the Lord promised us. In the wake of COVID-19, our church community was yearning for revival in all facets of life—our ministries, finances, and relationships. Today, as I reflect on the figures in our balance sheets and the flourishing connections formed in the pews, I see the unmistakable signs of God's promise coming to fruition. Navigating through a season of metaphorical death and resurrection is never without its trials; yet here we stand, ready to pivot into a new chapter of our story.
In the spirit of this season, I warmly invite you to partake in our Holy Week celebrations, detailed on our website. Our Last Supper (Maundy Thursday) Observance is unfolding in homes across our community throughout the week and we have prepared a home guide that you can pick up at church this Sunday or view online. This guide will walk you through how to host an event in your own home. Our Good Friday Service will feature a solemn yet profound Tenebrae observance, graced by the accompaniment of our wonderful orchestra. On Easter Sunday, join us at dawn, 7 AM, for our Sunrise Service, and again at 9:30 AM for our main service. I will share a message entrusted to me by the Lord, “The Lion, the Web, and the Humbug.” I trust you will join us with hearts full of anticipation.
Following Easter, we are excited to start our Alpha Course. As we heard from Nathan's compelling testimony last Sunday, this course has been an invaluable resource for newcomers to explore the Christian faith in a warm and welcoming setting. I urge you to invite your unchurched friends to enroll in this transformative program; your gesture could be a catalyst for spiritual transformation in their lives.
As you are aware, this season is ripe with opportunity—an occasion when hearts are most receptive to the message of Christ’s love and sacrifice. Let us invite those in your life to join us on our journey of believing, belonging, and becoming.
I hold you all in my prayers as we enter Holy Week,
Yours in Christ,
|
