The Most Anticipated Time of the Year
Dear ,
We are approaching the most anticipated season of our church calendar. Yes, Christmas is almost here!
The Christmas season is a wonderful time when people’s hearts are open to attending church, and I have witnessed many join our congregation every year. I strongly encourage you to invite your friends and family to partake in the various Christmas events at Lake, each offering rich opportunities for sharing your faith and spreading your joy. To help you share, we have created a Christmas@Lake & Advent Series webpage along with a postcard available at the Connect Table in the Worship Center Lobby and literature racks throughout the campus.
Apart from our traditional Christmas events, we have a unique and exciting treat for you: “The Star of Bethlehem: Its Possible Astronomical Basis,” a captivating scientific exploration of the Christmas story through the lens of astrophysics. This presentation marks the beginning of a cohort model learning community specifically designed for those interested or involved in the STEM field. Please register for this event to join our growing community of science professionals and be part of a series of upcoming lectures on the intersection of science and faith.
One of the commitments I made to our congregation upon assuming the role of senior pastor was to prioritize “open and transparent communication.” In keeping with this commitment, I initiated a monthly Fireside Chat where we discussed various aspects of our church life, including finances, governance policies, and theological positions. Over the past year and a half, these sessions have been a source of faithful engagement to our congregation. However, as we have progressed, questions and concerns from the congregation have significantly diminished, indicating that this ministry has served its purpose well. In light of this, we will transition from our monthly rhythm of Family Chats starting next year. Instead, we will schedule these sessions as needed. So, keep your questions coming via and watch for more information.
Following a significant hiatus, our New Year's Eve Concert is making an official return! Join us on Sunday, December 31, at 6 pm as we kick off a unique worship experience featuring music that will inspire you, and an interactive time of reflection and prayer over the past year and the new year to come. Our celebration will continue on the plaza with a delightful potluck, a spirited block party for everyone from children to adults, culminating in a thrilling "ball drop" at 9 pm to welcome the New Year in EST.
Let's usher in the new season together with heartfelt prayers, the joy of companionship, and an eager anticipation of God's abundant blessings. I'm eagerly looking forward to walking this journey with you.
Yours in Christ,
