“Promise to Presence” Advent & Christmas 2023
Dear ,
Last Sunday pastor Mathew closed out our fall teaching series "Return and Rebuild,” a Study in the book of Ezra with a powerful message. We hope you have been blessed by the teaching of Pastor Mathew, our special guest speakers, and the Pastoral Teaching Team. As we prepare to enter the Advent and Christmas Season, we want to let you know what we have prepared - not only so that you will be blessed - but so you can invite others as well. We have therefore prepared a Christmas@Lake page you can share with folks - and in addition to this, we have prepared postcard handouts that will be available starting this weekend for you to pick up and give to others as well. Simply visit any of the guest tables with the orange balloons - or the literature racks around campus to pick up extra copies.
Our Advent season begins Sunday, December 3 with the launch of Pastor Mathew's teaching series entitled: ”” where we will delve deep into the timeless and prophetic passages of the Old Testament that foreshadow the miraculous birth of Jesus Christ. We will explore the anticipation, hope, and fulfillment found in these ancient prophecies, connecting them to the joyous celebration of Christmas and the profound significance of Christ's arrival into the world. The series will inspire a renewed sense of awe and wonder during the Christmas season, reminding us of the unchanging faithfulness of God's plan for salvation.
“JOY TO THE WORLD” ADVENT DEVOTIONAL
Accompanying our Advent teaching series, Congregational Life Ministries has also provided a special Advent Devotional available for you to pick up starting next Sunday, November 26, in the Worship Center Lobby for a suggested donation of $2. Pick one up while supplies last.

CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES Sunday, Dec. 24, 9:30 am & 8 pm • Worship Center
The joy of the season culminates on Christmas Eve as we celebrate and worship our newborn king together as the LAC Family. This year we will offer two services. Our 9:30 am Sunday Service will be designed for everyone - including families with children and students of all ages. Childcare will be offered at this service. Then, come back for our traditional Christmas Eve Candlelight service at 8 pm featuring orchestra, choir, organ, worship band, a special message from Pastor Mathew as we sing joyously with candlelights in hand.
CHRISTMAS DAY CAROL SING SERVICE Monday, Dec. 25, 10 am • Chapel
On Christmas Day, we will offer a special Christmas Carol Sing-Along Service at 10 am in the Chapel. This all-church family time will feature singing your favorite Christmas carols and hearing a short message from our pastoral team. Dress warmly and comfortably - you can even bring a blanket to snuggle up in. This "unplugged" service will not be recorded or streamed online. Childcare will not be offered - but all children are welcome. Ample parking will be available in the West Parking Lot.
NEW YEAR'S EVE CELEBRATION & BLOCK PARTY Sunday, Dec. 31, 6:30 - 9 pm • LAC Plaza
We will close out 2023 and usher in the new year with something new - an all-church New Year's Eve Celebration & Block Party hosted by our Congregational Life Ministries. Come celebrate the New Year with the entire LAC Family. There will be fellowship, food, music, and a time to pray and reflect on the year ahead. Our evening will culminate with ringing in the new year at 9 pm with the ball dropping in Times Square in New York! This is an all-church Family celebration - perfect for inviting family, friends, and neighbors to celebrate.
This year's theme is a good old-fashioned church potluck competition! We would love to see different foods from the many cultures and families that are represented at Lake. Bring your best dish to share and see if your dish is a winner.
Let’s show our neighbors, friends, and family the beauty of church fellowship! Plans are still being formed and more details are to come. Our planning team is growing but we could always use more people to help create a wonderful celebration. If you want to help before and/or during the event, contact us at .

About Parking As we continue to increase our Sunday attendance, we ask, if you are able, please park at the Gateway Plaza in order to allow guests, families with strollers, our elderly, and those with special needs to park in the West Parking Lot - especially during this Christmas season. Thank you in advance for being a light and witness to our neighbors and community by not parking on the streets.
