April Showers - of Love

Dear ,

This April we have much to look forward to and be grateful for to God. Deuteronomy 32:2 says "Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants." We have been blessed and are being blessed by the Word of God and one another. Tomorrow, we conclude this season of sharing, fellowship, and teaching through the Rooted series at our Day of Prayer featuring a Special Celebration Service marking the conclusion of the series. We hope that you will be able to join us and celebrate all that God has done and is doing through the LAC Family for His glory and Kingdom. If you were not able to join a Rooted Small Group this time - or you have been inspired to facilitate a Rooted group - please know that we are planning on hosting at least two Rooted Discipleship Series per year. The next one will start the week of September 17, 2023. If you are interested, simply fill out the form - here.

Following our Saturday evening celebration we move right into the start of Holy Week with Palm Sunday, April 2, at 9:30 am. This will be an all-church service including children from Kindergarten and up. Our children and students will be celebrating with us. We will be baptizing four young students and it will be a rich time of starting Holy Week together. Our week continues with Last Supper experiences hosted by you in your homes or online. In addition to our Last Supper web page featuring a step-by-step home service guide and video to help you with everything you need to host an event in your home we have also printed and made available printed versions should you need one. They are available at the Guest Center in the Lobby and the literature racks around campus.

This Friday, April 7, we will once again host our most unique Good Friday Tenebrae Service at 7:30 pm in the Worship Center. This moving experience will utilize song, spoken word, imagery, and light to help us better understand the crucifixion and death of our Lord and Savior - Jesus Christ. We encourage you to make time and invite family, friends, and neighbors to this service. At the same time, a special interactive age-appropriate Good Friday service for children from Kindergarten through 5^th Grade will be held in FL 300 (Warehouse) and childcare will be available for children 5 and under in FL 103 on the Family Life Center 1st floor.

Then on Sunday, April 9, we will gather with billions of other believers around the world as we commemorate the resurrection of Jesus from the dead and celebrate our salvation through His sacrifice for us. Join us at either our 7 am Outdoor Sunrise Service on the main Plaza outside of Family Life, or at 9:30 am for our All-Church Easter Sunday Service in our Worship Center and online.

After Easter Service Celebration
After the 9:30 am Easter Service, we are making preparations for fellowship and ministry connections on the plaza featuring light refreshments, games for children and families, a photobooth hosted by College and Young Adults, live music, and opportunities to connect with ministries from children to seniors and more.

About Parking
If you are able, please park at the Gateway Plaza in order to allow guests, families with strollers, our elderly, and those with special needs to park in the West Parking lot. Thank you in advance for being a light to our neighbors and community by not parking on the streets.

Set aside the first Saturday of every month for the LAC Family and community to pray.

OUR TIME INCLUDES:
Praying through Scripture, Intercessory Prayer, Praying through Music, and Prayer for Church/City/World

9 – 10 am: United Intercessory Prayer Session - Pathways Center
11 am – 12 pm: Listening Prayer Session - Worship Center Lobby East
5:30 pm: All-Church Rooted Celebration Service (Worship Center for this event only)

WILLS & TRUST SEMINAR

Saturday, April 22, 9-11 am • FL 204/205

Regardless of financial assets or season of life, everyone should have a plan to guide their affairs. LAC will be providing a two-hour seminar on wills and trusts led by Rich Chinen (Attorney) and Les Stocker (Former Interim Director of Church Operations) as they review current issues around estate planning. If you have no plan for your assets, come and learn how to create one. If you have a plan that was created several years ago, now is the time to determine if it should be upgraded or expanded.

Attendees must register here for this FREE event. An estate planning packet with essential filing documents will be prepared for those that register.

WOMEN CONNECT SPRING EVENT

Saturday, April 29, 10 am - 1 pm • FL 300 (Warehouse)

We invite all women and their guests to attend our Women Connect this spring. We are privileged to have Laurie Polich Short as our speaker. Her topic will be, “Wonder What God is Doing in Your Life?” Laurie will be sharing about faith, doubt and God’s mysterious timing, and biblical insights about the way God works. Laurie is a popular speaker, author, and part of the teaching team at Ocean Hills Covenant Church in Santa Barbara, California. A graduate of Fuller Seminary, Laurie speaks at conferences, colleges, churches, and denominational events around the country. She has been featured on PBS, Focus on the Family, RightNow Media, and more.

LAC COUNSELING CENTER
RELAUNCH FUNDRAISER

Saturday, April 29, 6-9 pm • FL 201/203 (Rose Room)

What started out as a small ministry of the Adult Ministries Division is being relaunched and set up to grow. Join the Counseling Ministry Team and its reintroduction of the Lake Ave Counseling Center. Register to have dinner with counseling therapists and hear ways you can support the new center. You’ll hear about the center’s mental health resources, a vision for the future, and how it continues to provide compassionate counseling at an affordable price.

“Faith, Spirituality, and Mental Health”

The Infinity Summit is an annual conference designed to equip the Church to engage the culture in effective and respectful ways. The summit will explore the latest trends in apologetics, missional outreach, and intercultural engagement by featuring researchers, scholars, and working professionals in their respective fields. This year's theme is "Faith, Spirituality and Mental Health." Come and grow with guest speakers Dr. Sam Fraser, Dr. David Wang, and others as they talk about mental health, and challenges that we all face. A light breakfast and gourmet catered lunch will be included.
