A Rooted Movement and Community in Transition
Dear , I have often heard it said that revolutionary ideas begin in coffee shops. About six months ago, when a small group curriculum called ‘Rooted’ was pitched to me at Pete’s café, I had no idea we were on the verge of a revolution. What began as an experiment quickly grew into an experience, and now with over 1100 participants and 200 facilitators, it has become a movement that has solidified the soul of our community. “This is the Lord’s doing,” says the Psalmist. “It is marvelous in our eyes!” The recent addition of Dr. Nick Barret into transitional leadership in Family Ministries gave us enough time and flexibility to widen our search for the Director of Next Gen ministries. We have finally identified the person who will be introduced to the congregation on Sunday, February 12. We have also reinforced our Middle School and High School teams with two brilliant young ministers with deep-rooted connections in the LAC family - Wesley Gates and Mackenzie Jensen. As it has been our prayer, the Lord is using this season to transfer our faith “from generation to generation.” As you might have noticed, our Worship Center is enjoying a mini makeover. We have replaced the decades-long worn-out carpet and transformed the Lobby into an extended living room space. It also functions as a prayer station on Sundays and during the Day of Prayer. The ‘culture of prayer’ is contagious, and the Lord is transforming LAC into “a house of prayer for all nations.”
Thanks to your feedback at the Bylaw Open House and Fireside Chats, the final version of our Covenant will be voted on at our Winter Congregational Meeting this Sunday immediately after the service. In the meantime, we are pausing all our regular programming, including the Fireside Chats, to create a fully immersive Rooted experience for our community.
Let us stay focused on our New Year resolution: Believe in His name, Belong to His family, and Become His Image in the world!
Blessings
