Welcome to our combined November/December 2012 edition of LakeAveNews Online E-Newsletter.

We look forward to our new Advent series entitled “I AM.” Pastor Greg refers to C.S Lewis’ writings in which Lewis said “I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: "I'm ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don't accept His claim to be God." That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic - on a level with the man who says he is a poached egg - or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the son of God: or else a madman or something worse.” - C.S. Lewis

Pastor Greg continues by explaining he has often read that quote from Lewis and thought it might be good to look carefully at Jesus' claims to see what he said about himself. During this Advent Season we will read through the Gospel of John. May the Lord prepare your heart and that of your family and friends for this Advent series of messages.

We invite you to join our Intergenerational Worship Services on Saturday,November 17 and Sunday, November 18 where the LAC family will gathertogether and worship from first grade all the way through our Senior Adults. You cannot understate the significance of seeing the family of God gathered together in worship and unity. Ministry programming for ages birth to 5 years will be available as usual. We hope to see you there!

Do you have the ability to sing? There are two different Intergenerational choir opportunities we invite you to join (ages 10 and up). Sunday Service Choir Rehearsal: Thursday, November 15, 7:15 pm, FL 001 (Choir Room) (Family Life Building, Lower Level). Saturday Service Gospel Choir Rehearsal: Saturday, November 17, 2:30 pm, FL 300 (Warehouse).

Celebrating Our Missionaries Fall Dinner
Join us on Friday, November 16 from 6:30 - 9 pm in FL 201-203 (Rose Room) for a historic event at LAC as we celebrate all those among us who have served as missionaries in the past or who are currently serving. For more details and to sign up visit our event page.

Worship Night - Hosted By GLOW
GLOW (a young adult ministry of LAC) invites you to an evening of singing and prayer with the whole church family on Wednesday, November 28 from 7 - 9 pm in FL 300 (Warehouse). All ages are welcome! For more details visit our event page.

O Cookie Town of Bethlehem
Join us for a night on the town – we'll be creating Bethlehem from gingerbread cookies! You bring the frosting and decorations, we'll provide the gingerbread cookies and a giant table for assembling our collaborative cookie town! The event will be on Wednesday, December 5 from 6:30 - 8 pm, HH305 (Preteen Room). Bring family anf friends! For more details visit our event page.

"The Christmas Cupcake" Children's Musical
The LAC Choristers and NewSong Christmas program invite you to a Christmas Musical about the "Sweetest Story Ever Told." While preparing for the annual Living Nativity, four of the singers discover they have been selected as contestants for "The Cutest Christmas Cupcake Contest." Conflict arises when they push the real story of Christmas to the back burner amidst the excitement. Come learn how it is resolved. Join us on Friday, December 7, from 7 - 8 pm in the Chapel. Messiah Sing-Along
We will sing together the Christmas choruses portion of Handel’s monumental work, Messiah. Join us on Sunday, December 9 from 7 – 8:30 pm in the Worship Center led by Lake’s Sanctuary Choir and Chamber Orchestra. Doors open at 6:30 pm. Scores are available to use or purchase in the lobby prior to the sing-along. For more details visit our event page.

Shepherds and Angels Carol Sing
Join us for our family "Shepherds and Angels Carol Sing" and worship service on Saturday, December 15 from 5 – 6 pm in FL 300 (Warehouse). John Stothers, along with our kids, will lead us from the piano through the meaning of our shepherds and angels carols. A Christmas message from Senior Pastor Greg Waybright will also be shared. Invite your kids to come dressed up as a shepherd or angel and we will celebrate Jesus’ birth! For more details visit our event page.

Special Christmas Service
Join us for a unique worship experience combining the musical and teaching talents in celebration of the birth of Christ on Sunday, December 16 in the Worship Center at 9 and 11 am. For more details visit our event page.

¡A Celebrar La Navidad!
Join us on Friday, December 21 at 6 pm in FL 300 (Warehouse) for a cross cultural Christmas experience hosted by Comunidad de las Americas! 4pm Christmas Eve Family Service
Hosted by our Children’s and Student Ministries, this service is intended for every member of the LAC Family. Join us for this casual service for the whole family, led by the worship band, vocalists and a special message from Senior Pastor Greg Waybright on Monday, December 24 from 4 - 5 pm in the Worship Center. 9 & 11 pm Christmas Eve Candlelight Services
Join us on Monday, December 24 at 9 and 11 pm in the Worship Center where we will feature the rich traditions of Christmas, including the singing of familiar Christmas carols, choir and orchestra, worship band, children’s choir, handbells. Christmas Carol Sing Along
Celebrate the coming of Christ on Christmas morning as we sing our favorite carols and Christmas hymns on Tuesday, December 25 at 10 am in the Chapel. Led by Jeremy Rose and Duane Funderburk, with a message from Senior Pastor, Greg Waybright. For more details visit our event page.
