Dear LAC Families,
I hope this greeting finds you well. As I see the summer season quickly fading into the rearview mirror, I have fond memories of Vacation Bible School tucked away in the recesses of my heart and mind (and a CD of the tracklist that still gets played quite frequently in my car). I have a fading sunburn whose foundation was laid at the LAC Family Beach Day. And, I have a sprouting hope in the promise that God can move through the hard places in me and around me this Fall.
Just this morning I was given the gift of an early wake-up call that sounded like "Mommy! Mommy! I opened my window and there was a dandelion sprouting out of the ground -- come see! " Within seconds, I was dragged from bed, squinting out a one-inch slat in the blinds of my daughter's room and feigning to see where the esteemed dandelion puff was. It took me a few moments to locate it, and to confirm that it surely had popped up through the bricks on the front patio. There it stood in all of its glory about fifteen feet away from us. Outside, through the glass, and quite frankly, only apparent to a child who had eyes to see. Whether you determine a dandelion puff to be a weed or flower matters not to the eyes of my child -- this was a morning miracle, and certainly one I would have missed without her exuberant urging.
As we move through all of the September beginnings, my prayer is that we as parents, grandparents, caregivers, caretakers and family members have eyes to see what we wouldn't naturally or normally be inclined to see. Lord, grant us grace to walk with heavenly vision in the currency of your Kingdom.
