Questions for Reflection

1 John 2:4-11

• If you claim you know Christ, what three things are you obligated to do (vs. 4-5, 6, and 9-10)?
• After considering vs 4 and 5, recall some of the commandments of Jesus in the gospels.  Which ones require more effort for you to obey?  What is the blessing of obedience given in verse 5?
• How can you have confidence that you are in Christ (vs. 5-6)?  Recall the way that Jesus lived and what He modeled to his followers in the gospels.  How might you apply that example to your own life? 
• We are called to love our brothers and sisters in Christ (vs. 9-11).  How will loving others keep you from stumbling?  How will loving others keep them from stumbling?
• Reflect if you have any hatred or ill-will for a brother or sister in Christ.  Confess and repent.  Make an active step to promote the well-being of that brother or sister in Christ.
