Questions for Reflection
Review the Sermon:
Read Exodus 3:1-14 and Luke 22:39-44
- Why are the Jews called “chosen” people?
- What is the initiation rite of the chosen one?
- What is the burning bush of the New Testament? Why?
Dive into Scripture:
- What does God call Moses to do, and what is Moses’ response? When have you felt like Moses did, overwhelmed and ill-equipped for His call on your life?
- When Moses asks God what His name is, He says, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: I AM has sent me to you.” (Ex 3:14). What does it mean that God is “I AM?” When have you experienced God as the great “I AM”?
Live it Out:
- God calls Moses in vs. 7-10 to rescue His people out of Egypt, a complicated and frightening endeavor. What is something God might be calling you to do this week that feels uncomfortable or intimidating? What promises do we see in this passage that can give us hope?
Pray:
- When Moses doubts his ability to live out God’s call on his life, God says, “I will be with you.” In what areas of your life do you need God to be “with” you this week?
“We are chosen not because we are special. We became special because we are chosen.”
