Questions for Reflection
Read 1 John 4:7-12, 19-21
- How would you define love (before reading the text)? Now, where does it come from (vs 7)? How is it connected to God (vs 8)? What does Jesus do that shows love, and why does he do it (v 9-10)?
- What is the evidence that God lives in us (vs 12)? What is the evidence that we love God (vs. 20-21)? Because of God loved us first, how we invited to respond (vs.19)?
- Love that is moved in action to sacrifice for another is called agape, in the Greek. Imagine saying “I love you” to someone you know, but switch it to “I agape you.” How does that change in your mind what you are saying? Is there a new obligation upon you?
- Who has expressed love to you, as Jesus did, by coming alongside of you to help you with your problem? Consider people close to you, casual friends, and even strangers. How can you be part of the solution to someone else’s problem, even this week?
- Take the short quiz to discover your love language and dialogue with someone you see often in “safer-at-home” about how you can express love to them the way they wish to receive it, putting them before you. https://www.5lovelanguages.com/quizzes/ Be love in motion this week!
