Read 1 Thessalonians 2:1-12
- Name the behaviors that Paul says are NOT the way of Jesus in verses 1-6. What makes these attitudes and behaviors so incompatible with gospel living?
- What does Paul mean when he says that he and the other apostles were like “young children” (vs 7) among the Thessalonians? Share a story of how someone has cherished you in this way, or how you yourself have shared this kind of humble love.
- What does Paul mean when he says that he cared for the Thessalonians “just as a nursing mother cares for her children” (vs. 7)? Share a story of how someone has cherished you in this way, or how you yourself have shared this kind of self-sacrificing love.
- What does Paul mean when he says that he and the other apostles dealt with the Thessalonians “as a father deals with his own children” (vs 11-12)? Share a story of how someone has cherished you in this way, or how you yourself have shared this kind of encouraging love.
- How do you need to live differently in order to be cherished by God or to cherish your neighbor this week?
